I began the day by fixing the brakes on my bike.
Since it was such a wonderful day and my bike was fixed, why not bike to Columbia? I’ve done it before. And it’s not like I’m biking across the country.
So I take off. I go over the Pulaski Bridge and the Midtown Bridge, stopping at the peak of both to appreciate the view.
Once in Manhattan I go towards Central Park where I notice a German America parade taking place.
Later on in the park I stumble across a free show. I stop and talk to one of the performers who I know… sort of.
A week before I started undergrad at Berkeley I was at a party in Los Angeles hosted
by a guy named James Kronin. I don’t really know James, but I met
another guy who was a sophmore at Berkeley. We talked about it and he
got me pumped about school. I call him "James Kronin’s friend." No, really. To this day I don’t know his name and he is "James Kronin’s Friend."
Me and James Kronin’s friend always bumb into each other. At Berkeley
that was not strange, but afterwords in San Francisco, it becamse a
funny thing. You can imagine how weird it was when we bumped into each
other in New York a few weeks ago.
Sure enough, he was one of the performers at the free show, so we ran into each other again, this time within a few weeks of each other. James Kronin’s friend went to clown school in SF and he told me about
upcoming gigs. Then I took off again on my bike, assured that me and
James Kronin’s friend would bump into each other again.
When I get to Columbia, instead of going right to work, I find there is
a big street fair taking place on Broadway. Lucky me, cause I was
hungry for some gyros.
Gryos yumminess achieved, I head to the Journalism building where I run
into two friends from my RWI class. They laugh at the site of me
ridding a bike with no shirt on and a helmet (Yes mom, I was wearing my
helmet).
That was a New York minute. Although the bike ride lasted about 1.5 hours.
