First off, I’d like to give a shout out to my friend at Bottom of the Class for redesigning my site. I’ve known for a long time that I have no sense of design, fashion or general coolness. Luckily I know people who I trust that do.
I did, however, have a rare but interesting design idea which I’ll throw out to the public with this post. I call it the ‘File Table.’
What you see here is a Lifttop Table (the latest in Ikea-like Amish craftsmanship). You can put your dinner on it and lift it up to your face, making it easier to spoon food into your mouth.
A ‘File Table,’ however, will fill in the void that exists between the top of the table and the connected base. In its steed will be a filling-like system, similar to one of these bad boys on the right.
Essentially the inside of the table will be like an accordion that can replace your filling cabinet. Hence the name ‘File Table.’ It seems liek a good way to create space in a small office.
I don’t have any sketches, it was just a fun idea I had the other night. And don’t steal it, it’s mine.
I promise the next post will be about journalism or technology, I just had to get this one out of my system.
dave,
i love those coffee tables! but hey, let’s integrate a mini-itx system with some flatscreens, wifi, bt, 5.1 speakers…
maybe filing would be better in retrospect… K.I.S.S. = keep it simple stupid, right?
AND IT LOOKS FAB!
