Video interview week continues here at Digidave. Later today I’ll have a fantastic video with Amy Gahran who, if you are a journalist, you know kicks butt and takes no prisoners.
But a quick internet sidetrack. Last night, excited about all the interviews I have to post over this week – I twittered “I wish I could interview everyone” – to which I got a response from Ryan Budke that he was ready to be interviewed anytime.
Anytime indeed. I launched a recorded iChat with him 10 seconds later.
For those who don’t know: Ryan is in charge of the Scout program at Propeller. In this interview he talks about what he does and the joy/difficulties involved in managing a team of part-time contractors from around the world (including yours truly) and the difference in community between social news sites like Digg and Propeller.
I just like Ryan cause he is a cool guy.
Interesting interview (although it did seem to end abruptly).
I really miss Propeller. I hope they sort out their technical problems because from where I’m sitting it’s impossible to use the site.
Truly the greatest social site I’ve ever been a member of…I really hope it gets fixed.

The interview did end abruptly – but that’s because I started asking questions that had answers I couldn’t publish.
Long story short: Your assessment is pretty good. As far as community goes – I really love propeller. You compare the comments made on Propeller versus ones made on Digg – and the difference jumps out at you.
I have seen what glimpses of the new propeller – and it will be totally awesome. That’s all I’m gonna say – since I have no idea what I am and am not allowed to say related to that (again, Ryan has a tough job wrangling cats, I don’t want to add to his daily grind).
Here’s to a better Propeller in the hopefully not too distant future!
Great Interview Dave and Ryan.
