“Journalism
is a process – not a product.”
And at Spot.Us we believe that process
should be participatory at every stage feasible. We have begun with the
participation at the funding stage. That should be obvious.
But more and more we are encouraging our reporters to be public in
their work. To DO their reporting in public. One good example (albeit
meta) is Aaron Croweâ??s reporting on the future of Bay Area Newspapers
in a changing economy.
The story is over 50% funded but still needs your support.
You can check out the pitch to get details – but you can also see
Aaronâ??s reporting unveil itself over at this blog. This is another way
to decide for yourself if itâ??s something you want to support or not.
His most recent post: Reporting Starts on Bay Area Journalism Story.
This is our way of saying: Join the reporting process!!
In this post he discusses and is transparent about potential
conflicts of interest, the experience of going back to his former
employer and the hottest lead that he acquired in this first reporting
bout.
He also looks for feedback and questions that you might have for
this reporting. Leave a comment on his blog post or email him what you
think should be done.
You can support this reporting with your tips, your donations or just spreading the word.
