The MIT Vehicle Design Summit (I blogged about it here) has come to completion. Check out their final products. Question: Does it look like a practical car — as I hoped they would create? If an environmental car is ever going to make it there needs to be some sex appeal.
While I was on vacation there was a shakeup at CJR Daily. This Editor and Publisher article explains that the dean of the school had to cut back the budget. The managing editor and deputy editor of CJR Daily both quit after the cut backs were enforced.
In my time at CJR I didn’t get to know the managing editor too well. I did, however, have some nice conversations with the deputy editor. He gave me a copy of his book "All the President’s Spin." I understand why they both quit, I just hope it works out for them and for CJR.
To be honest, I’ve always had an issue with the daily site. First it should merge with the magazine. That’s known by all. But the daily cjr site always seemed like glorified blogging to me. Sometimes it’s just glorified page 6 blogging. Maybe I’ve never really delved deep enough into it, but it just seems like a Gawker for old media journalists.
Last but not least on my catching up with links post: Making an Optimus Prime Puppet. Need I say
more.
But Gawker is for journalists!

True in a sense. But Gawker appeals to more than just journalists. CJR on the other hand has a much smaller niche: their shirt boats something to the tune of: “CJR Bishop of Old Media.” That’s why I never understood CJRDaily, which appears to be their attempt at moving towards Gawker. So I will qualify my last statement on cjr with — old media
Yeah, I was half-joking, in any case.
