Religion in Journalism

A rough quote from my professor.

“I don’t care if you are fucking an elephant, just don’t cover the circus.”

I suppose this means a journalist can practice any religion as long as they don’t cover the religion beat.

Picking up where I left off yesterday , I wonder why there is an entire institution dedicated to training religious journalists? Does one’s religious background really change how you approach a story?

Good question. Here is an old CJR article on just that. (Kudos once again to my old employers for covering ground I was about to dive into, it makes my blogging job much easier).
