After getting some momentum on posts, a careful reader will notice that I have slacked off the past few days. Although a good conversation had recently started on this blog — the day after I wrote my second post, I was informed that my grandfather was passing.
I am currently in Los Angeles with my family. I will return to New York and work next week — where I’ll have lots of catching up to do. Not sure when I’ll have time to post again — but time will catch up and I’ll be posting here again about journalism, technology, geeking out and all that other good stuff.
On a side, I’d like to take a moment to remember my grandparemts.
Harry Cohen — was a humble man of the earth. An honest person of integrity and simple insights into life. He taught me how to fish, how to garden and to have confidence in myself. He was the patriarch of our family.
He raised my mother and uncle and instilled values in them that allowed each to create families of their own.
As a soldier in WWII he was a hero, who received two Bronze Medals and a slew of other awards. He was in France during the Normandie invasion and fought throughout Poland.
Both my grandparents have passed in the last year. Their lives were one. They were married for over 50 years and in my mind they remain an example of what it means to be in a happy marriage. That they passed so close to each other in time is fitting. They
were a team in life and I imagine they still are.
I will end this post with my favorite quote from my grandfather, one I will keep alive. As a family gathering would come to a close, during a good laugh he would always say: “We may not make a lot of money, but we sure do have fun.”
“We may not make a lot of money, but we sure do have fun.”
Sounds like a great philosophy!
Dave…thinking of you and your family. Death is hard – go slow.
And keep telling the stories.

Your grandparents’ lives reminds me that life is long, so it is best to have fun everyday.
