New Deals in Citizen Journalism

Over at the UpTake:

"Big news!  The UpTake now has a new outlet for the video it produces.  Today we launched a strategic partnership with Veracifier.com to recruit, train, and showcase independent video journalists from around the country during the 2008 election year."

The UpTake is an interesting project which was started by Chuck Olsen. I first came across Chuck when I stayed up late one night watching Blogumentary. I met him briefly at Personal Democracy Forum – just enough time to say hi. I also invited him to the Networked Journalism Summit – because I thought he was going to do interesting things in Minnesota in citizen journalism. I’m happy to see that my intuition was correct.

Next on my list of "big posts" to do is a look at Digg right now and the current problem of IMing circles. I’m not sure what we are going to see in the social news world – but I am expecting more niche voting sites like.

The GlobalVote:
A Digg-like site that lets you vote democratically on important issues in the world.
