The picture above is of two of my favorite people in the world while we were waiting in line to see Saturday Night Live. One is Lizzy Caplan, perhaps the first person from my high school to get her own page on Wikipedia.
This weekend is probably super busy for her, as the hit Cloverfield has opened and she is one of the stars. I can’t wait to see it.
I emailed Lizzy today just to give her a quick congratulations.
Despite being in the middle of a press junket, she emailed back. She is a young star in Hollywood but she still has time for her friends. Her acting career isn’t a fluke either. For the last few years she has become increasingly active and in demand. Yet, she remains the same girl I dated in 8th grade, just a straight cool person. Yes, that’s right. Somehow a shlomo geek journalist like me dated a now famous actress.
Posting will continue in regular fashion: I’ll stay on subject – journalism, citizen journalism, media, etc. But I wanted to give a public shout-out to my long-time friend Lizzy Caplan – and perhaps earn a little geek-cred at the same time for having dated her while we were going through awkward moments of puberty.
