News and Tools: Yahoo!!!

I haven’t been writing about it much – but I’ve been doing some work with Bill Densmore and the Media Giraffe team on the NewsTools2008 conference which is starting tomorrow and will take place at Yahoo’s headquarters.

So yes, I am back in the United States – but man, I’m busy. The "Journalism That Matters" meetings are unique – they are the closest thing to an unconference in journalism that I’ve found so far. My only criticism is that there aren’t more of them at a local level ie: CopyCamp.

My goal is to take loads and loads of video at the conference – that’s half the reason I’m going. I want to do lots of quick interviews like the Marc Cooper or M.G. Siegler videos I tried earlier this month. Later today I’m having lunch with Dave Winer – who is as intimidating as he is brilliant, but I hope to get a quick video interview of him too. The real question is…. what do I ask a person like Dave Winer? Regardless of the potential video interview – I hope to pick his brain about other issues in journalism.

So – check out the list of attendees (which is looking really good) and let me know if you have any specific questions for any specific attendees – and I’ll do my darndest to get them answered.

  1. Good luck with the conference. I’d be intimidated with those interviews too. How are you planning to post the videos?
