Wow, two posts in one day. I’m going nuts over here.
The second post is to announce a job/internship I am going to start tomorrow.
It’s at Seed Magazine. I’ll be writing for their website.
After I applied I met the other Columbia J-school students and one of them was working there. I thought, how funny now I might have a connection.
When I got a letter back from the editor I had to laugh, I’d been working for his girlfriend for the last 4 months and had already met the guy.
What I like about the opportunity is that Seed is growing very rapidly right now, which makes me think that maybe there will be a place for little old me as a staff writer when this internship is over. If not, no big deal, It’ll be yet another organization under my belt. I’ll still be in school when it’s done and still honing my skills sesh.
My fear is that I will truly begin to get crunched on time. School is part-time but combined with a part-time job it looks like homework will officially become over-time. We shall see.
I’m also worried that this will kill my freelancing, at a time when I’m really starting to network with other freelancers too (another good tip). This weekend I was talking with a friend from College who is doing something similar and we were sharing ideas for each others respective niche’s. I also met a freelance fact checker about what she does (that’s an interesting gig if there ever was one).
But alas. I go where I go. Hopefully I’ll still have time to write about it here and take you all with me — kicking and screaming.
